Verification

Everyone says hello first.

Before your first conversation on Twos, you confirm a phone number and record a 10-second intro. Together they take about a minute. This page is exactly what we ask for, why we ask, and what happens to it afterwards.

Two steps, about a minute

What we ask for

Step 1

Confirm your phone number

We text you a 6-digit code. That's the whole step. A verified number makes throwaway accounts expensive to create, and it's how you get back in if you ever lose access. It is never shown to other members.

Step 2

Record a 10-second intro

Your name, where you're from, and one thing about you. Face in frame, said out loud. You review the take before anything is sent, and you can re-record as many times as you like.

“Hi, I'm Maya from Lisbon. I run before work and I'm terrible at remembering names.”

What we're looking for

Every intro is reviewed by an automated system, usually within a minute, and in some cases by our safety team. If a take misses a guideline, the app tells you which one and you can record another right away.

  • Just you in the frame

One person. Not a group, not a pet standing in.

  • Fully clothed

The same as you would be out in public.

  • Face visible

Well lit, in frame, no sunglasses doing the talking.

  • You say hello, out loud

A silent clip doesn't count. Your voice is half of it.

  • Friendly, not flirty

Twos is for conversation, not dating.

  • Filmed live

Not a screen, a photo, or someone else's video.

  • Nothing sexual, violent, hateful or abusive

In frame or on the soundtrack.

  • 18 or over

    And no children on camera.

Privacy

What we keep, and what we don't

Your intro stays private.

It exists to verify you. It isn't shown to other members and it isn't posted to your profile. If we ever add a way to share it, it will be your choice, off by default.

The recording is deleted within 90 days.

Once you're verified, we keep the fact that you were, not the footage. The recording is deleted within 90 days of verification.

Your phone number is never shown.

It's used to sign you in and to stop repeat abuse. You won't get marketing texts unless you've said yes to them.

Who sees it in the meantime.

An automated system, and in some cases our safety team. No one else.

Why we bother

Because the person on the other end is a person

Twos is fifteen minutes with someone somewhere in the world. That only works if the someone is real. A short, spoken hello is the cheapest honest signal we've found: easy for a human, pointless for a bot, and it tells us whether somebody came to talk or to pitch.

It also means everyone you meet did exactly what you did. That's the whole idea.
